ALIMENTARI
ITALIAN GROCERY & COFFEE SHOP
MONTREAL 2026
IT WAS FEATURED IN LA PRESSE.
Alimentari, a well-established Italian grocery boutique and café in Saint-Lambert since 2015, continues its evolution with the opening of a new location in Montreal. Known for its warm and authentic approach, the brand places community and human connection at the core of its identity. Conceived as a true gathering place, Alimentari offers a reimagined Italian experience where products, craftsmanship, and conviviality come together in a contemporary setting.
Located on rue Viger in the Ville-Marie district, the new space benefits from a prime street-level location. Defined by large windows and high ceilings, the architecture allows for abundant natural light and a strong sense of openness that enhances both the products and the overall customer experience.
The layout concept is based on a fluid spatial organization structured around central islands dedicated to the grocery and retail functions. These elements act as anchors, intuitively guiding circulation throughout the space. Along the perimeter, a series of banquettes and high tables welcomes guests looking to enjoy a coffee or a sandwich. The functions intentionally overlap to create a dynamic and organic environment where uses coexist without rigid boundaries.
The project stands out through a material palette inspired by traditional Italian codes, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Burgundy, pink, and turquoise form a bold new chromatic signature. Colors are applied in distinct volumes to structure the space: a soft pink ceiling envelops the interior, while the café counter and burgundy ceiling drop anchor the composition. Turquoise accents appear on banquettes and furniture. On the floor, graphic patterns bring rhythm to the layout and subtly define the placement of furnishings.
