BOXING CLUB & COFFEE SHOP

MONTREAL 2025

IT WAS FEATURED IN WE HEART, ARCHELLO.

A Montreal boxing club known for its inclusive approach and desire to bring people together. More than just a training facility, it defines itself as a community space where exchange, diversity, and shared experiences take center stage. True to its rebellious identity, the club refuses to blend in and offers a vision of sport that goes beyond traditional boundaries.

The project comes to life in a former industrial factory in the heart of Montreal. The space, with its soaring ceilings and abundant natural light, possesses a strong architectural personality. Its street-facing location enhances its visibility, making it a natural urban landmark that is open to the city and welcoming to all.

The layout reveals a hybrid space where two worlds coexist. On the club side, a sculptural reception desk, inspired by a piece of furniture, is highlighted by an accent wall with lighting visible from the outside. An unusual punching bag, finished in chrome and mirror, punctuates the space and asserts the venue’s boldness. At the center, a multi-level platform becomes the heart of the community—a space for gathering and observation. On the café side, the counter near the windows also serves the exterior. Ceramic surfaces covering the furniture continue along the base of the walls, creating material continuity and a strong identity.

The materiality of the space reflects its raw and unique character. The epoxy floor, presented in various shades of blue, creates an energetic and vibrant base. The silver and dark blue woodwork dialogues with glossy pale blue, matte dark blue, and glossy red ceramics, giving the space a confident chromatic identity. Raw plywood lockers recall the building’s industrial essence, while custom wall-mounted lighting, accented with red details, adds a sculptural dimension and sets the rhythm.
